The enormous size of  animals and plants alike will truly make you feel that you’re walking amongst giants. From dinosaurs bones to the skeleton of a blue whale, you will be awestruck by the sheer scale of these creatures. In this article, we will highlight some key displays and share practical guide information related to visiting the museum, particularly where you can find luggage storage near the Natural History Museum in London.

Museum Highlights

(1) Blue Whale Skeleton

Nicknamed “Hope”, this 83 foot (25.2 metre) blue whale skeleton hangs majestically from the ceiling. You can walk underneath this monstrosity to appreciate the sheer size of the world’s largest mammal.

(2) Dinosaur Fossils

There are plenty of fossils to admire and an animatronic tyrannosaurus rex that moves and roars. Sophie the Stegosaurus, one of the most complete stegosaurs, is also on display. It was only recently discovered in the mid 2010s.

(3) Giant Sequoia Tree Slice

Gaze into the past of our world through rings of a giant sequoia tree. Originally felled in 1891, this tree trunk indicates an age of over 1300 years. It’s diameter is 16 feet (4.9 metres) wide, indicating that it originally stood over 300 feet (91 metres) tall.
